Chris Bosh’s home burglarized: $340K in rings, watches, purses taken while he celebrated birthday

Chris Bosh's Miami Beach home was reportedly burglarized on Wednesday, with hundreds of thousands of dollars in jewelry and accessories stolen while the Miami Heat center and his wife, Adrienne, celebrated his 29th birthday with friends at an area nightclub.

According to Florida television stations WSVN and NBC6, Miami Beach police said Thursday morning that an estimated $340,000 in merchandise, including watches, rings and purses, were stolen Wednesday from the Boshes' home, a seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom mansion for which Bosh paid $12.5 million after joining the Heat in free agency in the summer of 2010.

Police said Bosh called to report the theft around 12:30 a.m. Thursday after returning from a party celebrating his 29th birthday, which actually took place on March 24, while the Heat were in the midst of their 27-game winning streak. The festivities reportedly began with a Moroccan-themed affair at downtown Miami's Briza by the Bay before continuing at the South Beach nightclub Bamboo; after heading home, the Boshes reportedly found their closet ransacked, a jewelry drawer open and multiple items missing, according to The Associated Press. Bosh's 2011-12 Heat championship ring was not among the pieces stolen.

The AP report notes the "well-publicized" nature of the party — Adrienne Bosh and others had been promoting the event on Twitter, Instagram and other social channels quite a bit recently. Miami Beach police said officers found no sign of forced entry and that authorities are interviewing housekeepers and other people who have recently had access to the home.

"We are leaning on the side of this being an inside job," said Miami Beach Police spokesman Bobby Hernandez, according to NBC6.

All this sucks quite a bit. We can only hope that the stolen items are soon found and returned, and that Bosh at least had fun at his party, which included camels greeting guests and tweeting about it, and a birthday cake depicting Bosh riding an elephant. (He probably had fun.)
