Falling behind in votes, an irked Amir Khan bashes Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana

Amir Khan needed to shake things up because he is currently lagging behind in Floyd Mayweather’s poll for his next opponent. Wanting to change his fortunes, Khan also used a social media account to bash Mayweather and Marcos Maidana.

Mayweather has yet to decide who his opponent will be for his May fight in Las Vegas. For so long, the list has only included two fighters in Khan and Maidana but the undefeated American fighter still refused to announce who his opponent will be.

Earlier this week, Mayweather sent out a poll on his Instagram account asking the fans to vote who they think he should fight next.

Khan, who defeated Maidana when they matched up back in 2010, received support from fellow British fighter Ricky Hatton who also thought Mayweather would have a hard time matching up with the former British Olympian.

“I do give Khan a chance. I know a lot of people who won’t share my enthusiasm, and he will be the underdog, there’s not getting away from that and I think Amir would admit that, but styles make fights,” Hatton told Talksport’s Drivetime.

“Mayweather likes fighters to run at him and attack him but he never has to go on the front foot and hunt someone down. If Amir could swallow his pride for one fight and use his hand speed and his boxing ability and let Floyd try to jump all over him, he’s probably the only man who can match Floyd for skill.”

Hatton who lost to Mayweather via knockout think that Khan can force the American fighter to awkward situations

"Mayweather likes to sit back and use his defense, he can shoulder roll and all that but his style is harder when he’s on the front foot,” he said. “Amir has got the style to give him big headaches.”
