Dani Alves resumes Barcelona training after shoulder surgery

Barcelona right-back Dani Alves is set to resume squad training on Tuesday in the Catalans' first workout session of the new season after spending the past two months on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury.

The Brazil international did not feature in Barcelona's Copa del Rey final win over Athletic Bilbao due to his physical problem, and also missed out on a spot in Brazil's Olympic squad.

However, Barca have now confirmed on their official website that the right-back has fully recovered from the shoulder operation he underwent in May and will return to the training pitch on Tuesday.

"The player is in the last stage of recovery from the surgery performed on his right shoulder. He is expected to work with the group on Tuesday under medical supervision. His recovery will mark his availability," the statement read.

Meanwhile, David Villa also continues with his recovery programme and will participate in part of the group session on Tuesday.

The striker missed the second half of the 2011-12 campaign due to a broken leg, and was ruled out of Euro 2012 due to the injury.
