Football: QPR keen to sign Brazil's Cesar - reports

News for you

English Premier League club Queen's Park Rangers are in talks to sign Inter Milan goalkeeper Julio Cesar, media reports said on Thursday.

Britain's domestic Press Association news agency said without quoting sources that the west London club's technical director Mike Rigg was speaking to the Brazilian's representatives to determine whether he was keen on a move.

The Times also said that QPR had had preliminary talks with Cesar, 32, who is available on a free transfer after Inter signed Udinese number one Samir Handanovic in the close season.

But the daily said that Cesar's wage demands could be a stumbling block, reporting that he was believed to be asking for 80,000 ($126,000, 100,000 euros) a week, amid apparent interest from Tottenham Hotspur and last season's champions Manchester City.

QPR signed England goalkeeper Robert Green from West Ham United in the close season but he gifted Swansea City the lead in the Premier League opener last weekend. The visitors went on to win 5-0.
