Gilas highlights included in FIBA World Cup video

The exploits of Gilas Pilipinas in the recently-concluded 27th FIBA Asia Championship have made their way into a video for next year's FIBA Basketball World Cup that's gone viral.

Scenes of Japeth Aguilar dunking, Jimmy Alapag elevating for the dagger three-point shot against Korea, Gilas players celebrating a win, the Mall of Asia crowd doing the wave, and fans waving the Philippine flag are spliced together with scenes of other international basketball stars like LeBron James, Manu Ginobili, Marc Gasol, Andrei Kirilenko and Joakim Noah playing for their respective countries.

The World Cup will be held in September in Spain, with 24 countries participating. The Philippines will be returning to the tournament for the first time since 1978.

Meanwhile Lakers star and Spanish national team mainstay Pau Gasol tweeted his congratulations to the three Asian representatives to the World Cup. The NBA All Star sent out his congratulations a few hours after Iran beat the Philippines in the FIBA Asia Championship gold medal match last Sunday.
