Higuain hits back at Rosell: Real Madrid were simply spectacular last season

Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain has replied to Sandro Rosell after the Barcelona president described last season's Primera Division as very strange, casting doubts over the legitimacy of Los Blancos' triumph.

Higuain notched 22 goals in 35 Liga appearances and the Argentina international responded to Rosell's comments by pointing out some of the club's achievements last term.

"One-hundred points, 121 goals, winning at Camp Nou, yes, it was a strange league, though for us it was simply spectacular," he told reporters at Valdebebas.

The forward then commented on the potential arrival of Luka Modric at the Santiago Bernabeu.

"I saw Modric at the European Championship and also at Tottenham. He's a player that likes the club and us. Hopefully he'll sign as quickly as possible for the good of the team."

The 24-year-old then tried to shed some light on his future with the Spanish champions.

"For me, it feels like the first day I arrived. I know the club I'm at and the players there. But I'm relaxed. The shirt wasn't a goodbye.

"I asked the players to sign it as a souvenir. The love I got from the Bernabeu faithful in the last match gave me a lot of strength to carry on. That's why I'm here, with a lot of desire.

"I don't regret anything I've been through here. I can live dreams and win titles; hopefully this year it'll be the Champions League."
