Manny Pacquiao surprised with Timothy Bradley’s one-week no-bath ritual
Manny Pacquiao tried his best not to judge his opponent Timothy Bradley’s odd pre-fight ritual. But in the end, he just could not help himself.
Bradley, the reigning WBO welterweight champion, admitted that he has a ritual of not taking a single bath in the week leading up to a big fight. The undefeated American fighter revealed that he has consistently avoided bathing during the week leading to a fight.
“I don't know why... that's one thing I don't do. The week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, I don't take a shower. Saturday, that's when I take a shower for the first time,” Bradley told ABS-CBN’s Bev Llorente.
“Grabe naman ‘yun. Sobra,” Pacquiao reacted when he was told of his opponent’s odd ritual. “No comment ako dyan. Kailangan maligo para hindi ka mabaho.”
This is not the first time Pacquiao is facing an opponent with a unique ritual. Juan Manuel Marquez, Pacman’s nemesis, used to drink his own urine during training as he believed it contained vitamins and minerals his body needed.
Bradley is also not the first athlete to stay away from baths during or leading up to the competition as Filipino billiards legend Efren “Bata” Reyes avoided baths too during the days of his competitions.
