Juan Mata has insisted that Spain will not take the international friendly against Panama lightly as they are determined to make a good impression.
The Chelsea star feels that la Roja have a certain responsibility as reigning world and European champions, and has vowed that they will do their utmost in Wednesday's encounter.
"We have come to Panama to compete. It might not be a qualifier, but we will give it our all. We want to give a good account of ourselves and win this match," Mata told reporters.
"We have become a point of reference in the world of football and want to show the world what we can do.
"We will not let Panama surprise us. It's an important game for them. We have to try and match their intensity and remain focused.
"Spain are characterised by their humble attitude and we must maintain this humility. No matter how often we win, we must keep our feet on the ground."
Wednesday's match is scheduled to kick off at 22:30 CET.
