This early, the Far Eastern University men’s basketball team is already starting to make noise – except in a negative way.

Big man Anthony Hargrove, Jr. and Canadian recruit Adam Mohammad were reportedly nabbed by authorities for alleged possession of marijuana early Wednesday morning outside the school’s gym facility in Morayta, Manila.

The incident was first reported on Wednesday afternoon by Aksyon Radyo 5. A reliable source confirmed it and disclosed to Yahoo! Philippines that the two foreign-bred Tamaraws were taken into custody by authorities in a precinct near the campus.

“Ang balita ko, mayro’n ngang naganap na hulihan. Sa pagkakarinig ko, dinala rin kagabi sa presinto ‘yung dalawa (Hargrove and Mohammad). Hindi ko pa alam kung sa’n eksaktong presinto pero malapit lang sa school,” the source stated.

Hargrove, a 6-foot-6 center who transferred from Technological Institute of the Philippines, emerged as the Tamaraws’ defensive lynchpin in Season 75, coming up with game-averages of 8.0 rebounds and 1.2 blocks–both team-highs–plus 7.6 points–third-best in the team–in 14 games. The Tamaraws, however, finished fifth after dropping their last three games.

Mohammad is currently with the school’s Team B, according to the source.

Yahoo! Philippines also tried to contact athletic director Mark Molina and newly-installed coach Nash Racela through their mobile phones but both were unavailable for comment.
