Yahoo! Philippines readers have spoken. After 15, 555 votes cast in our online poll asking them whose team they are on, 62 percent answered that they are rooting for the LeBron James-led Miami Heat to become back-to-back NBA champions.

Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and the rest of the San Antonio Spurs claimed 38 percent of the voter share, as Spurs battle it out with Miami Heat in Game 7.

Previously we've seen LeBron James and company dominate local names in terms of online searches in the Philippines. This despite tabloids dishing up plenty of showbiz gossip, such as the alleged Daiana Menezes “physical abuse” issue and the Maricar Reyes-Richard Poon wedding.

As much can be assumed from the influence of Filipino-American Eric Spoelstra's team in social media; the Heat, owing to their athleticism and aggressiveness on both ends of the floor, have generated considerable buzz on Twitter and Facebook.

The same can be said about the memes depicting Miami players making big, momentum-changing plays. Some of them were inspired by plays in the dying moments of Game 6, with the Heat's 66-win season on the line.

Besides a fixation for politics and showbiz personalities, Pinoys are known for having a deep love for basketball. Some of the country's most watched and widely debated sporting events are basketball games in both professional (PBA) and collegiate (UAAP and NCCA) ranks.
