Garcia's fried chicken jibe 'hurtful' - Woods

LONDON (Reuters) - The feud between world number one Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia deepened when Woods described the Spaniard's "fried chicken" jibe as "wrong, hurtful and inappropriate" on Wednesday. Woods reacted on his Twitter account after Garcia issued an apology to a comment he made at Tuesday's European Tour awards dinner when he was asked on stage whether he would be inviting Woods for dinner during next month's U.S. Open in Merion. Topex Robinson has reportedly resigned as head coach of the San Sebastian Golden Stags.

According to some team members who requested anonymity, Robinson announced his resignation during the team’s practice this morning, citing his desire to focus more on his job as assistant coach of the Alaska Aces in the PBA.

The Stags are currently in a tie for second place with Jose Rizal University and the University of Perpetual Help with a 6-3 card in the on-going 88th Season of the NCAA.  In its last outing on August 18, San Sebastian surprisingly lost to lowly Emilio Aguinaldo College, 67-77.

Robinson took over the Stags last year from 2009 NCAA champion coach Ato Agustin, who moved to the pros.  He led SSC to a runner-up finish in 2011 after the Stags lost 0-2 to the San Beda Red Lions in the best-of-three series.

However, SSC Athletic Director Frank Gusi said that he has not received the resignation letter of Robinson.

But despite his resignation as head coach, Robinson told reporters that he would still help out with the Stags on a part-time basis.  He added that he made this agreement with Gusi even before the Stags’ August 13 game against San Beda.

Assistant coach Allan Trinidad will likely be tapped as acting head coach until the end of the season.
