Blackwater Elite may have lost their seventh straight game in the 2014 PBA Philippine Cup but forward Ogie Menor was the big winner in social media as he stunned everyone with his unique lizard hairstyle.

The product of the San Beda Red Lions in the NCAA, Menor was nabbed by Blackwater in the dispersal draft.

Funky hairstyles are not new in the PBA with NLEX Road Warrior Asi Taulava sporting a blonde Mohawk. Mark Caguioa has also popularly gone through many different hairstyles including having his mane curled. Alex Crisano was also known to have sported many funky hairstlyes during his PBA career but Menor went above and beyond all of them with the ‘butiki’ cut.

This season, Menor has averaged 5.86 points and 0.86 rebounds. Against Purefoods Star, Menor failed to record any positive stat in eight minutes on the floor while turning the ball over once but he was the game’s biggest news item.

If fellow expansion team KIA Sorento rode on Manny Pacquiao’s popularity to garner mainstream media attention, Blackwater got worldwide coverage thanks to Menor, with the likes of ESPN, Bleacher Report and SB Nation all picking up the story.
