It’s official: Andray Blatche is now a Filipino citizen.

President Benigno Aquino III has reportedly signed Republic Act 10636, granting Filipino citizenship to the six-foot-ten NBA veteran.

Gilas Pilipinas head coach Chot Reyes broke the news on Twitter Wednesday afternoon, less than 24 hours after the Brooklyn Nets big man flew out of the country after a whirlwind three-day visit highlighted by a visit to the Smart-Araneta Coliseum where he took in a PBA game and held a press conference.

The development paves the way for Blatche to suit up for the Philippines in the FIBA Worlds in Spain and the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea. Blatche has said he plans to play in both tournaments, which will be held during the NBA offseason.
