It was action befitting a knockout game. With their conferences on the line, two players from opposing teams got into a physical altercation that caused quite a stir among PBA personalities.

Twitter exploded in the second quarter of the knockout game between the Alaska Aces and the Meralco Bolts as Gabby Espinas committed a flagrant foul on Cliff Hodge. During that play, the two got entangled which ended with the Ace landing two blows on the Bolt's head.

The referees signaled for a flagrant foul and converged to decide if it was a penalty 1 which Espinas needs to sit on the bench for three minutes or penalty 2, which leads to an automatic ejection. Espinas was a crucial part of the attack for the Aces as his fellow bruiser Calvin Abueva was sidelined with a leg injury during the game.

To the surprise of most, the referees only called a flagrant foul penalty 1 on Espinas. He did sit on the bench for the prescribed minutes but Alaska dodges a bullet because he wasn’t ejected.

The tweets from PBA players and coaches then started pouring in.
