Petron, Barako Bull Duke it Out for First Place

WHAT THIS GAME MEANS

Number 1.

Who would’ve thought that these two teams would be fighting it out for the top spot? Obviously, not the schedule. The Petron Blaze Boosters and Barako Bull will be out to get #1 in the first game of Tuesday’s double-header. We don’t see that very often, but we will be taking it.

If the Blaze Boosters wins, they will have a big game and a half lead over second place. However, if the Energy Cola walk away with the W, they will be tied with Petron, but will have the tie-break.

Petron and Barako have been playing some fantastic basketball and for both of them, it has been all about the balance between talent and system. For Petron, there is great talent with a good system. For Barako, its about a fantastic equal opportunity system with good players.

Which one will prevail?

WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR

Do-It-All vs Do-It-All.

Elijah Millsap and Mike Singletary are the most all around imports that we have in this conference. They score, rebounds, defend, bring energy, and throw it down with emphasis. Now, they will be doing it against each other.

Millsap might not be a better scorer, based solely on his stats, but he has local support that is arguably the best in the league. Singletary might not be the best defender, also based on his numbers, but the defensive schemes of Coach Rajko Toroman relieves that stress from Mike’s shoulders.

WHO TO WATCH OUT FOR

The Player of the Week.

Believe it or not, Emman Monfort is the frontrunner for Best Player of the Conference. After taking home the Player of the Week honors, having the second best record so far, and the great story that comes along with a player like Monfort, there is little doubt that he has what it takes to take home that honor.

All he needs to do now it to maintain what he has been doing on the court. Maybe even change it up a little, to make himself even better. But most all, he needs to keep winning. If he can do so, and maybe pull off another huge victory with Petron being his latest victim, the flag bearer of Minions United just might make history.
