Philippines bags first 27th SEA Games medal with wushu silver

John Keithley Chan, Norlence Ardee Catolico, and Daniel Parantac fell painfully short in capturing the Philippines' first gold medal in the 27th SEA Games in Myanmar.

The trio tallied a 9.62 score in the wushu duilian contest, Saturday morning at the Wunna Theitdi Indoor Stadium. Host team Myanmar copped another gold as they scored 9.64 in the event care of Kyaw Zin Thit, Daniel Parantac, and Wai Phyo Aung while Thailand finished with the bronze with a 9.60 tally from Pitaya Sae Yang, Sujinda Sae Yang, and Baramee Kulsawadmongkol.

Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, and Laos finished from fourth to seventh in that order.

The duilian wushu is a dual event where teammates perform a choreographed sparring session with each other.
