Ronaldinho signs with Atletico Mineiro - report

News for you

Former Barcelona and AC Milan star Ronaldinho has reportedly agreed to move to Belo Horizonte with Brasileirao side Atletico Mineiro, just days after his time at Flamengo ended in acrimony.

The 2002 World Cup winner, 32, rescinded his link with the Mengao on Friday alleging that the Rio giants owed him more than R$40 million (€15.5m) in unpaid wages.

The announcement came just days after Flamengo vice-president Paulo Cesar Coutinho was filmed launching a furious attack on the Brazil international, accusing him of doing nothing for the club.

Subsequently ESPN Brasil reported on Monday that Ronaldinho had accepted an offer from Atletico Mineiro to spend the rest of the 2012 season with the Galo. The move got the green light from president Alexandre Kalli, who was offered the star by brother and agent Roberto Assis.

The Belo Horizonte institution had been keen to add a big name to their squad ahead of the Brasileirao. Negotiations with Inter's Diego Forlan had previously failed to yield an agreement, while the club were also in talks with Vasco midfielder and former Lyon favourite Juninho Pernambucano.
