Thomas Strunz has voiced his opinion that Bayern Munich need up to 10 new players this summer as he feels they currently lack depth.
The former Germany international, who made over 150 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern during his active career, expects seven players to leave the club ahead of the 2011-12 campaign, and believes these should all be replaced, while three more players should be signed to add some necessary depth.
"It's clear for me that Bayern need more squad depth. They need eight to 10 new players in my opinion. The starting XI is of enormous quality, but doesn't feel any pressure to perform on the training pitch," Strunz stated to Goal.com.
"Bayern's squad was already too small this term and up to seven players could leave this summer, including [Hans-Jorg] Butt, [Takashi] Usami, [Danijel] Pranijc, [Ivica] Olic, Breno, [Nils] Petersen and [Diego] Contento.
"The European Championship is coming up and Bayern will have learned from what happened after the 2010 World Cup. There will definitely be three more arrivals just to add some more depth."
Strunz then went on to say that Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin, who has been linked with a move to FCB in recent weeks, is not the right man for Bayern.
"I don't think that Sahin would be the right man for Bayern Munich's style of play. He lacks the strength in the duels to be a typical No. 6. He would not make Bayern a better team in that position."
Bayern have already secured the services of Xherdan Shaqiri and Dante for the 2011-12 campaign.
