The unidentified Premier League striker who UAE champions Al Ain admitted they were interested in signing is Arsenal's Park Chu-Young according to reports.
UAE newspapers Sport360 and Gulf News both claim club sources have confirmed to them the Garden City outfit are interested in the 27-year-old South Korean who only managed six first-team appearances for the Gunners last term.
Al Ain, who have former Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan on their books and Olympique Lyonnais' Brazil international Michel Bastos in their sights, are keen on an Asian player following the departure of Yasser Al Qahtani to parent club Al Hilal.
The UAE champions are understood to be eager to bolster their squad ahead of their 2013 AFC Champions League campaign.
Last week, Al Ain chief executive Carlo Nohra had confirmed to The National that the club were chasing an unnamed Premier League striker.
"We're in talks with a player from the Premier League to cover Yasser's position, although I can't tell you where the negotiations are, and what the outcome may be, because I'm not party to those discussions," he said according to The National.
"Representatives of the club have been dealing with this for the past 10 or 12 days, but there is no particular date yet for resolution. I'm sure they have one in mind, because if he doesn't want to come then somebody else will have to be sought."
Park, who joined Arsenal from Monaco in August last year, said earlier in the month that he hadn't received any offers regarding a new club.
"There's no progress. There's no offer so I have nothing to consider," he told reporters at Korea's Paju National Training Centre at Olympic training.
Park, who will compete at the London Olympics beginning Thursday, added: "If an offer comes, then I'll consider it. Right now, I don't want to think about Arsenal (as he's focusing on the Olympics)."
