Amaury Leveaux Biography

Leveaux heads into the London Games having set an Olympic record, but is still seeking his first Olympic gold. At the Beijing Games, he set an Olympic record in leading off the first leg of the 4x100 meter freestyle relay in the first heat of qualifying with a time of 47.76 seconds. He swam a 47.91 in the finals as the French team took the silver. Leveaux also took silver in the 50 meter free with a time of 21.45 seconds. He participated in two relay teams at the 2004 Olympics, finishing seventh in the 4x200 meter free and was part of the 4x100 meter free that didn't qualify for the finals. At the 2012 European Championships, Leveaux took bronze in the 200 free with a time of 1:47.69 and was part of France's gold medal-winning 4x100 free relay team. He also finished fourth in the 100 meter free after clocking the best qualifying time of 48.77. He set three world records at the 2008 European Championships - in the 50 free, 50 butterfly and 100 free - and his time of 44.94 seconds in the 100 free still stands.
