Coleman Scott Biography

Scott claimed the final spot on the U.S. Olympic team in thrilling fashion, winning a wrestle-off in early June. Three wrestlers earned spots in a best-of-three championship series to determine the American participant. After defeating Reece Humphrey in the preliminaries, Scott beat Shawn Bunch for the first time at the senior level to earn his first Olympic spot. He was a four-time All-American for Oklahoma State and capped his NCAA career with a national championship in 2008 after finishing second in 2007. Scott was fourth at the Olympic trials in 2008 and has finished third at the team trials for the world championships the last three years. He won the Dave Schultz Memorial International earlier this year and finished sixth at the same competition two years ago. Scott, who is married with one daughter, placed third at the 2009 Pan American Championships. He was a three-time state champion in high school and also won two national championships in junior wrestling.
