Jarrett Jack's game-winner allows Nets to fend off Warriors

Enough has gone right for the Golden State Warriors this season that fans can be forgiven for expecting them to pull out an unlikely comeback victory. Down 108-99 to the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center with 3:29 left in regulation, the Warriors went on a 9-0 run over more than two minutes to tie the game on a Stephen Curry jumper (to give him eight points in the run alone) with just 1:08 on the clock. Given the Warriors' performance this season, it seemed as if they were headed for a victory on the sixth and final game of their Eastern Conference road trip.

It was not to be. After a Golden State turnover, the Nets called on former Warrior Jarrett Jack to create their final shot with the shot clock turned off. The defense from Curry was quality, but Jack got the better of him with this pull-up jumper:

Curry attempted to put up a game-tying lay-up on the final play of the game but could not beat the buzzer, and the Nets finished with a 110-108 victory to open up a half-game lead on the Indiana Pacers and Charlotte Hornets for the East's final playoff spot. They will welcome the Hornets to Brooklyn on Wednesday for a key game in what's shaping up to be the closest race of the NBA's stretch run.

Meanwhile, the Warriors finished their road trip at 3-3, a decent mark that will appear disappointing to a team that has grown accustomed to considerable success this season. Golden State went 9-4 with just two home games (both wins) over the entirety of February and have generally looked tired even during strong performances. While Curry (26 points on 6-of-12 shooting from deep) and Bogut (16 points on 8-of-10 FG and eight rebounds) were very good on Monday, the play of Klay Thompson (3-of-17 from the field despite getting some very good looks) is perhaps more indicative of the state of the Warriors. The good news is that they will play 10 of their next 12 at Oracle Arena starting with Wednesday's home game vs. the Milwaukee Bucks.
