Mad Dash: NFL linebacker paying up on prom bet

Plenty of athletes get involved in social media stunts that are neither original nor interesting, but Eagles linebacker Emmanuel Acho has taken what could have been a common tale of generosity on Twitter to another level entirely. When Hannah Delmonte of Woodgrove High School in Purceville, Virginia, asked Acho if he'd go to prom with her if she got 2,000 retweets, Acho raised the stakes to 10,000 retweets in a week. Twitter came through just shy of the deadline, and Acho tweeted that he'd be a man of his word. That was in January. In the last week, though, Acho has taken the bet to awesome heights. He surprised Delmonte at her high school to formally accept her invitation in person, has been posting photos of the surprise in the days since, and plans to play the piano and sing Delmonte a song on the big night. Acho summed it up best in one of the more recent Twitter posts, saying the cost of the trip to surprise Delmonte didn't come close to the priceless reaction he got when he arrived. We're admittedly a little jealous. Anyone want to crash Woodgrove's prom with us?

From a heartwarming story to one that might make your skin crawl: Scorpions are invading the Camelback Ranch baseball facility in Scottsdale. The grounds belong to the Diamondbacks, but the Dodgers and White Sox are currently there, and they've had to watch every step. Over the weekend, a White Sox reporter caught two scorpions in a plastic cup and tweeted out a photo of the culprits as proof. Then, a Dodgers employee was stung this week, but will reportedly be OK. If it's not a secret Diamondbacks plot to unsettle the Dodgers, their NL West foes, it should be. Double check those cleats before you put them on, guys.
