Two synchronized diving wins ends U.S. medal drought

The U.S. won its second set of medals in synchronized diving on Tuesday, as David Boudia and Nick McCrory earned a bronze medal behind the Chinese and Mexican teams.

They edged out popular British diver Tom Daley and his partner Peter Waterfield. Their win happens a day after Kelci Bryant and Abby Johnston won silver, breaking a 12-year American diving medal drought.

Say what you will about synchro diving -- and there have been plenty of jokes about the discipline since it was introduced to the Olympics in 2000 -- but it opened the door for the U.S. to win medals in a sport that had been floundering. The next time someone makes a joke about synchro diving around you, start an immediate, "U-S-A! U-S-A!" cheer.
