Liverpool hero Luis Suarez interviews Liverpool hero Paul McCartney

Say what you want about Luis Suarez, but he has one heck of a public relations team behind him. Not so long ago, he was a pantomime villain who bit people, had no qualms about diving, who suffered accusations of racism and who manipulated the media to demand transfers like a heartless mercenary.

Now, the Uruguayan is a goal-scoring Liverpool hero who gives to charity, plays in the park with Downs Sydrome kids, gives interviews in English to the journalists he used to hate and spends his spare time taking orphaned children to the Puppy, Fireworks and Candy Factory.

In his latest attempt at making us forget about all his naughty behavior, the Premier League's leading scorer has interviewed Paul McCartney. One of Liverpool's most famous sons is in Uruguay for a stadium show in Montevideo on Saturday evening, while one of Uruguay's most prominent citizens is holding down the fort in Macca's home town.

The mutually-beneficial-heavily-staged conversation is pretty entertaining, with the former Beatle getting the best of the laughs: not only does he claim England will beat Uruguay and win the World Cup, but he sneaks in a cheeky Everton chant at the end.

McCartney also petitions Brendan Rodgers to let Suarez come to his show at the Estadio Centenario, despite the fact that he has a crucial early kick-off match at Norwich the following day. Rodgers should definitely let him go: if Suarez's spectacular recent performances against the Canaries are anything to go by, he could easily come straight off a long-haul flight and score dozens of goals at Carrow Road.
