One FC MMA gladiators stand out with their moves and words

"I'm looking forward to kicking his teeth down his throat" boasted American Heavyweight Tim Sylvia, referring to his opponent for Friday's fight, Andrei Arlovski.

When Arlovski was told about the comment, he spewed through his thick Belarussian accent that "he (Sylvia) is gonna need a proctologist because I'm gonna put my f*****g fist up his a** and and pull out his throat."

These two obviously don't send each other Christmas cards.

This will be the fourth meeting between them, with Sylvia of the USA winning two, and Arlovski taking one. Both have been Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight champs.

One thing is for certain: the Mixed Martial Arts fighters who will square off this Friday night have more than one way to entertain. Some with their fists, others with their mouths.

That was made abundantly clear at the open workouts at the Discovery Suites gym on Wednesday. This is all part of the lead up to The One FC, Pride of a Nation fight card this Friday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Several fighters on the card worked out in front of an appreciative bunch of writers and photographers.

First out was Brazilian-born Aussie Gustavo Falciroli, sporting a shock of bright blue hair. After a sparring and grappling session with his trainer, he confessed that "I don't worry what he (opponent Bibiano Fernandes) will do. I'm just concerned about what I'm going to do."

He also explained that his blue hair was to give tribute to both Brazil and Australia, since the color blue is on the flag of both nations.

Next up was Fernandes. The Brazilian Bantamweight, wearing a grey skin-tight top and black pants, grappled with one trainer then sparred with his boxing coach, Canadian Tony Pep, who once went the distance against a young Floyd Mayweather, losing a unanimous decision.

When asked if he would prefer a stand-up fight or a ground battle, a confident Fernandes answered "whatever he wants."

The Fernandes-Falciroli clash is the main event on Friday.

Following Fernandes was Jens Pulver. The American former UFC was chatty and candid in his post-workout talk with reporters.

Loren Mack of The ONE FC introduced him as a "legend" to which the 37-year-old Pulver quipped "I guess that's another word for 'old.'"

Pulver was effusive in his praise for the Filipino he is slated to face, Eric Kelly, calling him "dangerous," "agile," "bad-ass" and blessed with "the craziest rear-naked choke."

Pulver said that the only way to humble an undefeated fighter like Kelly was to "hit him hard."

The former UFC Lightweight champ was very revealing about his private life.

"I grew up badly beaten. My Dad was a P.O.S., or piece of s**t. I used my sport to help change my name."

Pulver's life, including the abuse he suffered at the hand of his father was documented in the documentary "Jens Pulver: Driven."

"I'm an emotional fighter. I want my opponent to slap my mom, say something bad about my kids."

"Before when I was younger I wanted to take my opponents to deep water and drown them. It's different now" he admitted. "My agility is slipping."

Jens also revealed that he wants to raise money for victims of the recent floods and that he is a video-game enthusiast who is deeply engrossed in Diablo 3.

Kelly was the next fighter to work out and he wowed the crowd with his powerful punches and astonishing speed.

The 30 year old Baguio native has a perfect 7-0 MMA record with six submissions and one decision. He also had kind words for Pulver, also calling him "a legend."

Like fellow Igorot Eduard Folayang, Kelly has a Wushu background. When asked about his last name he said he was "purong Igorot" but that maybe one of his ancestors was a foreigner.

Kelly and Pulver will fight at Featherweight.

Sylvia was next. Aside from his incendiary comments about Arlovski's teeth, Sylvia said that the Belarussian's jaw was getting weaker. Sylvia, who is a part-time police officer in Illinois, will fight at 265 pounds.

Arlovski followed, wearing a black shirt with the words "I <3 the Philippines on it. His workout was the shortest, but it did feature an attempted leg lock on his trainer.

"I wanna knock him (Sylvia) out 100%" snarled the 33-year old Arlovski, who has a 17-9 record. During the final posed photo opportunity Arlovski bellowed "this is Sparta!!" at the top of his lungs.

Arlovski has been receiving boxing training from Manny Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach.

The two heavyweights reportedly encountered each other near the elevator and heated words were exchanged.

For sure there will be more fireworks come Friday.
