Known for his high field goal shooting, Peek ends his career making 55.4% of the 5,534 shots that he took.
"Ali is really tough and he's a gentle giant off the court," said his former head coach Tim Cone. "He was always ready to play. I know he's getting a little older but I'm surprised. I thought he still had some years left but I know he's had knee problems over the years and I know it can be a struggle to stay healthy. He's a great guy. Whatever he decides to do, he'll be great at it for sure. He's very, very bright and smart so he's succeed on whatever career he pursues next."
"Ali is part of the three-peat champion team of Talk 'N Text," said Ricky Vargas while watching the NLEX Road Warriors clinch their fifth PBA D-League title. "We value his participation and his help. We regret his leaving but if that's what's good for him, then that's all that matters."
Members of the PBA family sent their regards to the big man also via Twitter.
