The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters could finally rest easy as their star gunner Paul Lee has decided to stay with the team. After weeks of uncertainty, Lee went to Rain or Shine’s office to sign a new maximum salary contract with the Elasto Painters.

Rain or Shine’s initial offer was a maximum salary, three-year deal but Lee, through the prodding of his agent Lawrence Chongson decided it would be best to sign a two-year deal.

Lee posted a picture on his Instagram account holding up his newly-signed contract. The point guard got his wish to finalize a deal before he departs with Gilas Pilipinas for Incheon, South Korea.

Currently, the Elasto Painters have 14 holdovers in their lineup. Aside from Lee, Rain or Shine’s other guards are Chris Tiu, TY Tang, Jonathan Uyloan, Jeff Chan, Jeric Teng, and Ryan Arana.

Their frontcourt consists of Beau Belga, Gabe Norwood, JR Quinahan, Jireh Ibanes, Raymond Almazan, Larry Rodriguez, and Jervy Cruz.

Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao stated prior to the end of last season that they needed a big man to bolster their interior. However, as Lee’s trade demand came prior to the 2014 PBA Draft, Guiao decided it would be best to apply contingency measures by drafting guards instead of getting the big man they sorely needed.

The Elasto Painters added guards Kevin Alas, Jericho Cruz, Kevin Espinosa, and Mike in the draft.

With Lee’s return, Rain or Shine are looking for trades that could get them a big man.
