Batang Gilas get automatic entry to second round of FIBA Asia U18 Championship

Another Gilas squad benefited from the luck of the draw as this time, Batang Gilas was granted automatic passage to the second round of the 2014 FIB Asia U18 Championship, due to the fact that their group has only three teams.

The preliminary round draw was revealed on Monday at the FIBA Asia website, with 15 teams making their way into four groups:

Group A: Qatar, China, India, Malaysia
Group B: Korea, Philippines, Jordan
Group C: Iran, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Bahrain

The top three teams in each group advance to the next round, carrying over their records against the relevant nations, with A & B, and C & D as the pairings. From the second round, the top four from each six-squad pairings form the knockout quarterfinals pool.
