Finnish sky diver crash probe could take weeks

HELSINKI (AP) — Finnish authorities say the investigation into the plane crash that killed eight sky divers could take weeks or longer to complete.

The head of the investigation, Ismo Aaltonen, says two jumpers and the pilot aboard the Comp Air 8 kit aircraft managed to parachute to safety in Sunday's crash in southwest Finland. They were hospitalized with minor injuries.

The victims, aged 23 to 43, were mostly from the surrounding region. Aaltonen said Monday they all were experienced parachutists.

Aaltonen said investigators didn't know the cause of the crash and the probe could "could take weeks and even much longer," partly because the victims and the plane were badly burned. The survivors haven't been questioned yet.
