Ghanaian company says it used plane seen in Iran

ACCRA, Ghana (AP) -- A mining company in Ghana says it has been using the plane registered to a U.S. bank that became the subject of international intrigue after it was spotted in Iran.

Engineers & Planners said in a statement that the plane took Ghanaian businessmen to Iran.

The New York Times published a story last week revealing the presence of the plane at Tehran's Mehrabad Airport.

Aviation records show the plane is registered to the Bank of Utah through an arrangement in which the bank serves as a trustee for aircraft owners. The bank also confirmed Tuesday that Engineers & Planners is using the plane.

With some exceptions, federal regulations generally prohibit economic activity between the U.S. and Iran. Engineers & Planners says the trip did not violate any international aviation laws.
