Harambee Starlets ready for Rwanda challenge

Kenya’s Harambee Starlets are confident they will post a good result when they face Rwanda in the 2014 African Women championship qualifying match at Amahoro Stadium on Sunday.

A contingent of 25 players and officials left for Kigali on Wednesday with head coach Justine Okiring beaming with confidence that the team will return good results.

“We have been informed that the weather in Kigali is very hot so we decided to leave early so that we can get accustomed," Okiring told Goal before departure.

The Starlets’, captain Martha Karimi, who enjoyed professional stint in Holland, expressed optimism that they will do well. “The match is very important to us since we want to qualify and we are ready to give return results.”

This year’s African women Championship has 25 teams participating with seven slots available and an automatic qualification for Namibia for being hosts of the tournament.

Kenya’s traveling squad: Goalkeepers: Rosemary Aluoch Kadondi, Annceta Waweru Njoka, Vivian Akinyi.

Defenders: Joyce Anyango, Doris Anyango, Julia Gathoni, Sylivia Wasilwa,  Esther Nandika, Euphresia Khakasi.

Midfielders: Ann Aluoch, Martha Karimi, Jacky Ogol, Mural Auma, Agnes Mutio, Wendy Achieng', Pauline Musungu.

Strikers: Elizabeth Ambogo, Neddy Atieno, Irene Momanyi, Christine Asuko.

Head Coach: Justine Okiring Omojong

Assistant Coach: Mary Adhiambo

Goal Keepers Trainer: Sunil Sha

Team Manager: Asha PIli

Physiotherapist: Joyce Nduku
