Jeric Teng out indefinitely with shoulder tear

UST's Jeric Teng has an ice pack on his shoulder after getting injured in the second quarter of the NU-UST game last July 10 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Bad news for University of Sto. Tomas Growling Tigers fans: leading scorer Jeric Teng will likely miss a few more UAAP games after an MRI on his injured right shoulder revealed a "slight anterior labrum tear".

Teng, who sustained the injury last July 10 after being shoved hard by National University's Jeoff Javillonar in the second quarter of the Bulldogs' 71-67 victory, broke the news on Twitter on Monday night, adding there is no timetable for his return to action.

"There is no definite date when I can play again. I hope it's sometime soon. I miss playing for all of you. It's really sad. Very sad :'("

"Very sad and disappointed to know that I have to miss a couple of games more. Mri result shows I have a slight anterior labrum tear."

Despite the findings, Teng appeared willing to move on and forgive the Bulldogs' big man, declaring in another tweet that "intentional or not, I am willing to forgive him."

"Also sad to find out that my injury came from the push. Intentional or not, I forgive him. Who am I not to forgive."

Jeric and younger brother Jeron were initially upset with Javillonar, with the elder Teng tweeting "your day will come".

The Tigers won their first game without Teng, outplaying the UE Warriors, 88-77, with Aljon Mariano, Karim Abdul and Ed Daquioag all stepping up. But they face an acid test in their next game on July 21 when they tangle with unbeaten Far Eastern University.
