Millions watch FIBA on Sports5

Television broadcast of the FIBA Asia Championship by Sports5, the sports arm of TV5, has reached millions of homes since it was first aired Aug. 1.

Nationwide viewership has steadily increased since Day 1 with the Philippines vs Hong Kong game peaking at 4.6 million viewers or an audience share of 35.3 percent - the highest viewership within its timeslot, according to the Nielsen Media Research NUTAM August 7 2013 Overnights data.

Games are being televised live on TV5, AksyonTV, HYPER and Basketball TV, the host broadcaster of the tournament. FIBA Asia LIVE action is also available in high-definition to Cignal subscribers (Channel 199).

"We, at Sports5, dedicate ourselves in bringing world class basketball coverage to Philippine free TV and to the international audience watching the FIBA broadcast in various platforms. TV5 has certainly enhanced the viewing experience of Filipinos and we will continue giving world-class coverage," Vitto Lazatin, Sports5 Sports Manager said.

Besides local audience, the games are also seen in 41 countries around the world, said Lazatin who added that four vans, 19 high-definition cameras, over 200 personnel and thousands of cables have been deployed for the coverage.
