NBA: Curry named NBA Most Valuable Player

Golden State Warriors star guard Stephen Curry on Monday was named the NBA Most Valuable Player for the 2014-15 season. Curry earned 1,198 points in balloting for the award, including 100 of 130 first-place votes, the National Basketball Association said in a statement. A panel of 129 sportswriters and broadcasters in the United States and Canada cast ballots, as did fans in an NBA.com vote. The fan vote counts as one ballot toward determining a winner. James Harden of the Houston Rockets finished second in the voting. Four-time MVP LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers was third, followed by the Oklahoma City Thunder's Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans. Curry is the second Warriors player to win the coveted award. Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain won in 1959-60, when the franchise played in Philadelphia.
