NBA: Raptors swingman Ross undergoes ankle surgery

Toronto Raptors swingman Terrence Ross, who fought through injury to compete in the NBA playoffs, has undergone surgery on his sore left ankle, the Canadian club announced Saturday. The 24-year-old American, who serves as a small forward or shooting guard for the Raptors, had bone spurs and other loose bodies removed from the ankle on Friday. No timetable for his return was immediately set. Ross played every game in the season and playoffs for the Raptors this season, averaging 9.8 points and 2.8 rebounds while connecting on 41 percent of his shots for the season. In the playoffs, he averaged seven points a game as Toronto was swept out in the opening round by the Washington Wizards. Ross was the eighth overall pick of the 2012 NBA Draft by the Raptors and as a rookie in 2013, he won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. In 2014 he sank 10 3-point shots in a career-best 51-point performance against the Los Angeles Clippers.
