No deal yet with Pacquiao, says Mayweather

No deal yet with Pacquiao, says Mayweather

Don’t get too excited, boxing fans.

Floyd Mayweather said no contract is in place yet for his much-anticipated mega-fight with Manny Pacquiao.

“That's not true,” Mayweather said during an interview at courtside of the NBA All-Star Game in New York. “I haven’t signed yet. He (Pacquiao) hasn’t signed yet. It's just been speculations and rumors, but hopefully we can make the fight happen.”

The denial comes in the wake of a report that came out in a British website on Sunday that claimed both sides had already agreed on a fight contract worth a reported $250 million.

But while nothing is set in stone, Mayweather said they are still looking at a May timeline.

"Do me a favor," said David Aldrdige of TNT, who was conducting the interview. "Don't make it in May because I'm working in May. I want to come see the fight."

“I’m Mayweather. It’s gotta happen in May,” the boxer replied, referring to the proposed May 2 date for the fight, which, if it happens, is expected to break pay-per-view records.

Mayweather is a huge basketball fan, and it was at a Maimi Heat game a few weeks ago that he and Pacquiao had a chance encounter which led to a lengthy meeting in Pacquiao's hotel room.

When asked about which player stood out for him in the annual NBA extravaganza, the undefeated fighter said he was impressed with the Chicago Bulls' Jimmy Butler.

The West went on to beat the East, 163-158.
