NU Protest

MANILA, Philippines - National University has officially protested Far Eastern University's 77-75 victory during their UAAP basketball tournament game last Sunday.

The protest was handed to UAAP commissioner Ato Badolato yesterday and a decision is expected to be announced today. If the protest is denied, NU can make a final appeal to the UAAP technical committee chaired by Fr. Emerito de Sagun of University of Santo Tomas.

NU claims time had run out when RR Garcia of FEU converted his layup which the referees counted after a lengthy video review.

NU coach Eric Altamirano said they also reviewed the tape and saw the tip of Garcia's fingers still touching the ball when the buzzer sounded.

Referees concluded that Garcia released the ball less than a tenth of a second remaining. A replay by ABS-CBN seemed to have supported the ruling.
