Officials: Camilla's brother's death an accident

NEW YORK (AP) — The death of the Prince of Wales' brother-in-law in New York City has been ruled an accident.

A spokeswoman for the medical examiner's office says Thursday that Mark Shand's death was caused by blunt impact head trauma with skull fracture and bleeding in the brain.

The 62-year-old chairman of an elephant conservation group was in New York for a charity auction at Sotheby's.

Police say he fell outside a Manhattan hotel bar and suffered a head injury early Wednesday morning.

They say he struck his head as he tried to re-enter through a revolving door.

British royal officials say the Prince of Wales, his wife Camilla and all of her family members are "utterly devastated by this sudden and tragic loss."
