Pacquiao-Algieri memes make the rounds after fight
Impressed with Manny Pacquiao's unanimous victory over outclassed American challenger Chris Algieri at the Cotai Arena inside the Venetian Resort and Casino in Macau on Sunday, netizens, both here and abroad, expressed their joy for the Filipino boxing icon while making of the former American kickboxing champion through several photos memes.
Former TV5 junior reporter Gerard Garcia uploaded a photo showing Algieri, who kissed the canvass six times in the one-sided, 12-round duel, apparently talking to Baymax of the blockbuster movier Big Hero 6 while Pacquiao was looking from the corner.
Another meme, with Algieri trying to beat the count of referee Genaro Rodriguez, also went viral. This meme made fun of Tim Lane, Clgieri's trainer, who kept on saying that they had Pacquiao exactly where they wanted him to be.
Also circulating online is a meme urging women to try their luck on the good-looking Algieri because he 'falls' easily.
Old memes using Pacquiao, local boxing fans and current Bureau of Internal Revenue Commissioner Kim Henares as subjects have also re-surfaced.
Some memes also surfaced following Pacquiao's strong challenge to undefeated American star Floyd Mayweather Jr., who the Filipino star feels should finally step up to the plate and forge the blockbuster showdown that fans around the world have long been waiting for.
