Like Gilas Pilipinas, Filipino basketball fans made a name for themselves in the international stage with their rabid support during the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain.

Their passion for the sport of basketball didn’t go unnoticed as the Philippines won the MVF (Most Valuable Fans) Best Country award.

Throughout the competitions, FIBA tracked the social media engagement in the 24 participating countries and they found out that no other country did it quite like the Philippines.

Although the Philippines finished 21st in the field of 24, the amount of support that Gilas Pilipinas received was not equaled anywhere else in the world.

A special video presentation of the award was aired during the halftime of the final game between the United States and Serbia.
