Qatar changes mind, WILL host 2014 FIBA Asia U18 Championship

“Whoops, we change our minds.”

Qatar is back as the host country for the 2014 FIBA Asia U18 Championship, just days after they out of nowhere they decided to give it up.

In a new post on the FIBA Asia website, FIBA Asia Secretary General Hagop Khajirian said, “FIBA Asia whole heartedly welcomes this decision of the QBF to return as the host of this prestigious event. We can always count on Doha and QBF to deliver a successful event as on many occasions in the past.”

The release gave no reason for their initial withdrawal, and why they suddenly opted back in.

FIBA Asia also unveiled the tourney’s logo, and said that the official website will be up soon.

The tournament is set to be played on its original announced dates, August 19-28.
