Pre-game ritual: “Before a game, I just listen to music to relax myself. Sometimes if I’m really focused, it’s like I have my own world. I zone out. But usually, I talk to my teammates and nakikipag-kulitan with them.”

Song on repeat: Anything Alesso

In-game kicks: Kobe 8

Post-game kicks: Sperry

Seniors ready: Uh huh honey.

Don’t get fooled by his 5’9″, semi-skinny frame. This dude is ready for the big boys. Of course, there’s a lot of things to work on, like the other guys. But if it’s a matter of ‘can he roll with the kuyas?’ Yes he can.

Needs work on: The facilitating side of a point guard

The scoring ability of Subido is beyond question. He’s a two-time UAAP juniors scoring champion! In the juniors, he was tasked to be his team’s saving grace. He was that one guy who they’d go to in desperate times. That’s mainly because there was hardly anyone else.

When he joins the Green Archers, he’ll definitely have help there. He will no longer be the focal point on offense. This time, Renzo will have to show a side of his game that remains a question mark – his passing game.

Projection: Roi Sumang

He’ll develop his facilitating game but you’ll never take out the innate scorer in Renzo Subido. He’s gonna be that point guard you hate to guard because you just can’t guess if he’s gonna take it by himself or drop a dime. You know he can do both fluently.

Scoring point guard? Sounds like a guy we know – Sumang.

Subido is coming into a team that still has major pieces (read: defending champs). He won’t be the main guy. But in time, he will be an integral part of the DLSU Green Archers. It’s good for him, too. In three or four years, by the time La Salle becomes ‘his team’, he should be just about ready. And we’ll sit back and watch in awe of what this kid can do on the court.
