Stockinger to grace Lotus F1 road show in Manila
From May 4 to 5, the streets of Manila will be transformed into one elaborately glammed up racing circuit for the first Manila Speed Show, presenting Marlon Stockinger, the first Filipino to ever win a formula race in Europe, as a hailed member of the Lotus Formula One Team.
The Lotus F1 Road Show Manila, presented by Globe Tattoo, starts with the unveiling at the Quirino Grandstand on May 4, and will finish off with gas-guzzling exhibitions and awarding ceremonies at the SM Mall of Asia Atrium the very next day. Other highlights of the event include zooming Formula One car demonstrations, exceptional luxury car displays, and one extraordinary celebration of the Filipino progress in the global setting, led by the emergence of the country’s very own Marlon Stockinger.
The 22-year-old Manila-born racer, who is also being introduced as an ambassador for Philippine tourism, will get to showcase the beauty of elite racing to the Filipino crowd by driving an actual Lotus F1 car that will be flown in exclusively for the weekend Metro Manila spectacle. Since winning the 2012 GP3 Series in Monaco, Stockinger became one of the seven junior team drivers who have received backing from the British F1 racing team in all facets of their young auto racing careers for an even brighter future ahead of them.
Just last April, Stockinger made his grand debut in the prestigious 2013 World Series by Renault, representing the black-and-gold team at the Monza, Italy leg, which was immediately followed by the Aragon leg in Spain. It will be an eventful year for him as he resumes his Formula Renault 3.5 series campaign in Monte Carlo on May 25-26 and all over Europe in the succeeding months, before wrapping it up in Catalunya, Spain on October 19-20. The coveted World Series by Renault is known to be a great avenue for hopeful Formula One drivers and such a stint has been made possible through the support of the LotusF1 Team.
Lotus F1, which officially debuted in the 2012 Formula One season, has so far been having an illustrious 2013 bid, having finished first in the Australian Grand Prix just last March. Equipped by their rich winning background in first-rate motorsports since the 1980s, the same can be said now about what this racing team can do for the trailblazing Filipino speedster, his forthcoming bids, and soon enough, his historic Formula One triumph that will be yet another proud moment for his fellow countrymen.
