Things We Learned: Semis So Far
1. Coach Yeng Guiao is not happy with the officiating (understatement).
Back-to-back games that saw Coach Yeng Guiao get ejected were more than enough of a cry out towards the officiating in the series against the Petron Blaze Boosters. He did admit to InterAKTV that he purposely got ejected in the Game 3 to fire up his team. Game 4, on the other hand, was a completely different story. After Alex Cabagnot’s hand made contact with Jervy Cruz’ nose, Yeng went ballistic. Main part of that interview is when Guiao said, “We didn’t beat Petron. We beat the referees.” Snap!
2. Greg Slaughter can be just as, if not even more dominant as June Mar Fajardo.
Greg Slaughter has been proving that he deserves to be the #1 pick in the draft. He is also proving that he could be the #1 pick in a fantasy draft as well. Gregzilla has been straight up balling out there for the Gin Kings. Sadly, it hasn’t meant a series lead just yet for Ginebra. If the rest of the team can find a way to stop San Mig Coffee, Greg will be on his way to equalizing and maybe even taking the lead in this series.
3. We were right about Ryan Araña all along.
We at #SLAMRadioPH have always been huge fans of Ryan Araña. We even said that he could be a superstar in the PBA if he was given a chance on another team. It looks like that doesn’t even even need to happen anymore. In the last game of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, the former Green Archer put together a Player of the Game worthy output. I don’t think that this is the last time that we will be seeing it either.
4. If you did the recent PBA Draft again, there is no way that Justin Melton doesn’t go in the First Round.
Let’s see what would happen if we did the PBA Draft all over again and you don’t hear Justin Melton’s name before some of the other names that were called. Quickmelt has become such a stud in this playoffs that there is no way that teams like GlobalPort, Barako, or even Ginebra would’ve passed up if they knew what they know now about Melton’s game.
5. Emman Monfort needs to shave.
I think that Emman needs to shave. There is really nothing more to add here.
