UFC targeting an event in Manila on May 16 – report

The biggest mixed martial arts organization in the world could be on its way to the Philippines. Combat Press reports that the UFC is targeting to hold its first event in Manila on May 16 most likely at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The promotion has been targeting an event in the island nation for the past few years and now those plans have come to fruition,” the report stated.

Filipino fighters of Team Lakay Roldan Sangcha-An and Mark Eddiva are expected to be in the card and it could be headlined by the Filipino Wrecking Machine Mark Munoz. The card would be of the Fight Night variety for the UFC.

“An official announcement from the UFC regarding the event, as well as details about the fight card, is expected to be released in the coming weeks,” the report ended.

Past reports have quoted UFC Vice President of International Business Development Joe Carr saying that the UFC will have three to four events in Asia this year. One of these countries would be Japan and the other possibly Macau. The UFC visited Singapore in 2014 but they only drew 5,216 fans.
